BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s COVID-related deaths between Jan. 13 and Jan. 19 this year in hospitals totaled 12,658, the country’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a statement on Saturday.
Among them, 681 died of respiratory failure caused by the new coronavirus infection, and 11,977 died of other diseases combined with the infection, the CDC said.
China had earlier announced that nearly 60,000 people with COVID had died in hospital as of Jan. 12.
