(Bloomberg) — Dutch power grid operator TenneT Holding BV said it’s exploring a possible sale of its German business to the German state.
The Dutch government prefers to fund TenneT’s Dutch activities while seeking a structural solution for the around €15 billion ($16.1 billion) in equity requirements for the German activities, TenneT said Friday. Funding for its main Dutch business is currently estimated at around €10 billion.
“Both the Dutch and German government prefer to fund, control and own their national electricity grid,” TenneT said in a statement. “Motivated by their climate ambitions and geopolitical developments, both governments are heavily focussing on infrastructure development for the energy transition.”
