IPCC elects Jim Skea as its new chair

GENEVA (Reuters) – The United Nations body responsible for assessing the latest climate change science on Wednesday elected Jim Skea of the United Kingdom as its new chair.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said in a statement that Skea was elected by 90 votes to 69 in a run-off with Thelma Krug of Brazil in a vote held at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi.
