Ukrainian forces moved forward in the area of the city of Bakhmut in the eastern Donetsk region, despite intense Russian artillery and mortar fire, the Ukrainian military said, citing Ground Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi. Both Ukraine and Russia are intensifying their attacks as Kyiv’s long-awaited assault in the occupied south marks a new stage in the conflict.
