SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said on Wednesday major public utility fares need to be frozen at least during the first half of this year given people are already facing increased financial burden from higher inflation.
“I request the central government to freeze public utility fares such as road and postal service fees at least during the first half of the year,” Yoon said at the beginning of a scheduled meeting of economy ministers.
He also called on provincial governments to cooperate in keeping utility fees as stable as possible.
