(Bloomberg) — Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller, the German company behind the popular Müller yogurt brand, is weighing options for its UK cold-chain logistics unit, people with knowledge of the matter said.
The family-owned group has been speaking with potential advisers as it studies a sale or initial public offering of its Culina Group subsidiary, according to the people. Culina could be valued at more than £1.5 billion ($1.8 billion) in any transaction, they said.
Deliberations are at an early stage and Theo Müller may still decide to keep the business, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information. A spokesperson for Theo Müller declined to comment, while a representative for Culina couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Founded in 1994, Culina provides warehousing, distribution and contract packing for fresh produce, chilled foods and drinks across the UK and Ireland. It generates more than £2.2 billion of annual revenue, according to its website.
The company’s clients include consumer groups Unilever Plc, Mondelez International Inc. and Innocent Drinks. Last month, Culina agreed to acquire transport company International Road Ferry.
