From $70 lobster salad to $150 steak, the cost of food and drinksĀ at dining rooms, markets and bars on the East End.
(Bloomberg) — There arenāt a lot of deals to be found in the Hamptons,Ā home toĀ million dollar-plus monthly rentals,Ā and $1,000 Blade helicopter rides.
Along with that is the price of local lobster salad.Ā Ā
Last month, TikTok star Jacks Dining RoomĀ visited the Montauk outlet of longstanding East Hampton grocer Round Swamp Farmāwhat some might think of as the HermĆØs of farm stands. He then showed off the components of a $200 lunch: aĀ $32 container of guacamole with chips, aĀ $42 shrimp salad, and a very few other items. He thought the shrimp was good, but:Ā āI wanted it to make me fly or somethingā¦. Thatās highway robbery for sure.ā
On a recent visit to the East Hampton market, Bloomberg Pursuits bought one of the storeās pricierĀ items: aĀ refrigerated, prepackaged lobster salad, which costs $89 a pound. A small deli container that holds just over half a poundāenough to fill a modest rollāwill give you a $55 picnic table lunch for one. Add on a bag of housemade āKung Powā chips āthe kind of deep-fried wonton skins Chinese restaurants add to takeout orders for freeāand the meal will cost you $70.Ā
