TikTok said Thursday it has signed a joint venture deal with investors that would allow the company to maintain operations in the United States and avoid a ban over its Chinese ownership.The move caps a lengthy tussle over the hugely successful video-sharing app in the world’s largest economy, where TikTok says it has more than 170 million users.According to an internal memo seen by AFP, TikTok CEO Shou Chew told employees that the social media company and its Chinese owner ByteDance had agreed to the new entity.Oracle, Silver Lake and Abu Dhabi-based MGX are on board as major investors, the memo said. Attentat de Sydney: l’Australie va racheter des armes en circulation

L’Australie a annoncé un vaste programme de rachat d’armes à feu après la tuerie antisémite de la plage de Bondi à Sydney, qui a fait 15 morts, avant une journée de recueillement national prévue dimanche.Vendredi, des centaines de surfeurs et nageurs se sont massés pour un hommage sur cette plage, emblématique du mode de vie australien, formant un cercle géant dans les vagues.Deux assaillants, Sajid Akram, 50 ans, d’origine indienne et abattu lors de l’attaque, et son fils Naveed Akram, 24 ans, sont accusés d’avoir tué 15 personnes et blessé des dizaines d’autres en ouvrant le feu contre un rassemblement pour la fête juive d’Hanouka.L’attentat commis dimanche dernier “semblerait avoir été motivé par l’idéologie du groupe jihadiste État islamique”, selon les autorités, alors que l’enquête se poursuit.Après avoir annoncé qu’il comptait durcir la législation australienne contre l’extrémisme, le Premier ministre Anthony Albanese a annoncé vendredi un programme de rachat des armes à feu en circulation.Il a martelé qu’il “n’y a aucune raison pour qu’une personne vivant dans la banlieue de Sydney ait besoin d’autant d’armes à feu”, en référence aux six armes légalement détenues par l’un des assaillants, Sajid Akram.Les autorités promettent d’indemniser les propriétaires d’armes à feu qui rendraient “les armes à feu superflues, récemment interdites et illégales”.Il s’agirait de la plus grande opération de rachat d’armes à feu dans le pays-continent depuis celle menée après la tuerie de 1996 sur l’île de Tasmanie (sud).
