(Bloomberg) — Goldman Sachs Group Inc. broke ground on its big new campus in Dallas, the future home of about 5,000 of its employees.
“This pile of dirt represents a major milestone for Goldman Sachs and for the city of Dallas,” President and Chief Operating Officer John Waldron said Tuesday in a ceremony with Mayor Eric Johnson and the two billionaire developers behind the $500 million project: Ray L. Hunt and Ross Perot Jr.
The campus will consolidate most of Goldman’s presence in the Dallas area into one location, making it the biggest US office except for New York. The mid-rise, two-wing building is located near downtown.
Goldman currently has about 4,000 people in the region. including more than 1,000 engineers, Waldron said.
