S&P 500, Dow open higher led by regional banks; key CPI data on tap

(Reuters) – The Dow and S&P 500 indexes opened higher on Monday, with shares of PacWest leading a rally among regional banks ahead of a key inflation reading this week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 40.77 points, or 0.12%, at the open to 33,715.15. The S&P 500 opened higher by 0.73 points, or 0.02%, at 4,136.98, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 3.73 points, or 0.03%, to 12,231.68 at the opening bell.
