OSLO (Reuters) – Norway’s largest labour union on Thursday said it had reached a wage deal and would end a four day strike that hit breweries, ferry operators, metals makers and other industry.
A smaller union with less than 10% of the involved workers said it would continue its strike action.
The LO union said it had agreed a deal for an average pay rise of 5.2% for 185,000 private sector workers, which in turn is expected to set a benchmark for other employment groups nationwide under Norway’s centralised system of negotiations.
The YS union, organising around 16,000 workers, said it had not agreed to a deal.
