The suspected perpetrator, who was arrested, is a 33-year-old stateless Palestinian, DPA said, citing the police. The attack occurred shortly before 3 p.m. local time on a train traveling between the state’s capital Kiel, in the far north of Germany, and Hamburg. Of the seven wounded, three suffered serious injuries, police said.
The motive is still unclear. Sources close to law enforcement told DPA the suspect isn’t known as an extremist and may be suffering from mental illness.Â
