(Bloomberg) — The European Union proposed extending a ban on Ukrainian crop exports to five countries until Sept. 15, Polish Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said on Twitter.
Ukraine has urged the EU to end the ban on sending crops to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, arguing that the restrictions are a boon for Russia.
Russia and Ukraine reported widespread fighting along the front lines amid expectations of a long-planned Ukrainian counteroffensive. Ukrainian air defense forces downed four out of six cruise missiles launched by Russia overnight and six of eight Shahed drones, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.
