WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Friday issued a safety alert to airlines seeking to prevent injuries to workers towing aircraft and guiding them to and from gates.
The safety alert “reminds airlines that it is important for workers to remain clear of operating engines until they are shut down,” the FAA said. In December, a worker was fatally injured on the ramp at Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama when the worker was sucked into an engine of an American Airlines regional carrier flight.
